WC 3 Sort

Yesterday we had another great opening ceremony here in Sort!

The main road was closed for traffic and all the teams marched down one after the other to a small stage where the competition was officially opened!

We saw some local folklore dancers and singers and there were a few speeches by local politicians and the organizers of the event.

Here are a few pictures:

The front of the local marching band.

 And the rear...

The streets were lined with people cheering for the teams!

All the teams gathered for the speeches and performances

All the flag bearers together!

And today the event kicked off with the heats of the K1 Junior Men, K1 Junior Women, OC1, C1 and Squirt Women!
We saw some really good rides actually but nobody really had 2 consistent rides and there were quite a few trashings and some of the favorites are already out of the competition!
We´ll see if this continues for tomorrows K1 Men heats - this is definitely going to be interesting!

Jacko had arrived too and had asked me to join him for the day and do the commenting with him.
It actually took me some time to get used to it - not only being on the livestream but hearing myself talk on the sound system was quite funny at the beginning - but we had a blast!
Fred, Quim, Dane and Bartosz also joined in and I think we did a good job!

Only problem was, that we didn´t get to see the results (same as for all the people on the livestream) so it was hard to keep the suspense up. But I hope this will be better tomorrow and we´ll get the results right after every paddlers run!

So here´s the link for the livestream:

My heat´s going to start around 4pm tomorrow (10. of july) :D
Make sure to tune in :)
